On 21 November 2025, Dr Anni Pues and Dr Mohamad Janaby organised and delivered a specialised training workshop in Erbil, Iraq, for the Commission for Investigation and Evidence Gathering operating in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The workshop aimed to support the Commission in implementing its mandate relating to the investigation of ISIS crimes in the region and in providing assistance to victims of such crimes.
In addition to the workshop, both Dr Pues and Dr Janaby participated in the Third Annual Conference of the Kurdistan Center for International Law. Dr Pues presented a paper on access to victims and evidence in the national prosecution of core international crimes, while Dr Janaby examined Iraq’s obligations regarding the criminalisation of core international crimes and the applicable domestic legal framework.
